Valentine’s Day is quickly approaching, and if you’re like most people, you are quietly panicking on what to get for your significant other. Of course you want it to be special, as they are the ones that make your heart flutter, right? With the cost of going to the theaters setting you back $50+ (2 adult admissions, popcorn, soda and candy). Pssst…one of my personal favorites is on sale at Target now! $5 for The Notebook (yes, ladies!) go out and get one of the best romantic movies ever (IMHO).
They say the quickest way to a man’s heart (ahem… and women too!) is through his stomach. And who doesn’t love waking up to the smell of bacon and coffee?? Well, why not bring it to him/her in bed? Whip up anything that comes from the heart! It can be as simple as cereal and fruit; or as fancy as eggs benedict with breakfast potatoes… yum, now I’m hungry! Here are some amazing breakfast ideas!
Get creative, sentimental and cheesy! It’s Valentine’s Day, and anything goes as long as it comes from the heart. Some of my personal favorites are throw backs to the ‘80s; but hey, if you want to throw some Taylor Swift in there, that’s okay, no one will know!
Depending on where you live, how often do you fully take advantage of all the beauty that your city/town has to offer? Go out, and be adventurous and explore those shops, restaurants, parks, museums that you have driven past a hundred times but never went to. There’s a lot to discover right under your nose — why not do it with your heart on Valentine’s Day!
There’s no excuse not to go pick up a big, red, box of chocolates! It doesn’t have to be expensive, or hey, maybe it is? Just get something sweet for your sweetie, I saw some great deals on a box of chocolates at our local drug store–a big heart shaped, delicious boxes of chocolates were BOGO FREE! Hey, buy one for your Valentine, and eat the other box!
Flash back to 1st grade when you made those macaroni necklaces for mom on Valentine’s Day (ok… and Mother’s Day, Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas… there’s a lot of macaroni in a bag, so they wanted to get the most out of it!). Make your Valentine a card — bust out that construction paper, glitter, glue, stickers and stamps and have at it. Who doesn’t love something totally unexpected and fun? And, this my friend, is totally unexpected and totally fun!
Another one for the creative gene! Show your Valentine that you care by coming up with some fun coupons. Go crazy! You can make a coupon for anything — from “Breakfast in Bed” to “Wash your car” — the best part about these coupons? There’s no expiration date, just like the love you have for your Valentine!
Ever seen those his and hers salt & pepper shakers? Or how about those his and hers pillows? What better time to get those gifts that make you think “who would buy that?” than on Valentine’s Day. Like I said, anything goes. And that means crazy gifts that make you smile!
Roses are red, violets are blue… just say it from the heart. You don’t have to be Shakespeare, but it may help. Just write your feelings for your Valentine in a poem… and no cheating by copying a Hallmark card — they’ll find out!
Nothing is easier than that! Just kick up your feet and cuddle in front a warm fire while enjoying the beverage of your choice — whether it be hot cocoa, champagne or a nice glass of wine. As long as you have your Valentine there by your side, as you enjoy a warm fire in front of the fireplace, there’s nothing better than that! Luckily, Z-Line Designs new division of fireplace TV stands will allow you to kick up your feet in front of the fireplace and watch The Notebook — and that’s two Valentine’s ideas in one!
